Course Description

This 3 hour course covers the skills and knowledge to enable giving assistance to a person having an asthma attack, and administering either the casualty's own asthma medication or the workplace asthma first aid equipment.

Course Content

This course covers: developing risk minimisation & risk management strategies for an asthma emergency; assess emergency situations; provide appropriate first aid treatment for an asthma attack; communicating details of the emergency asthma incident; evaluate the response to an asthma emergency.

Assessment Tasks

Demonstrate competent administration of asthma reliever medication via an inhaler and spacer; participate in 2 scenarios; complete a workplace incident report; complete 10 multiple choice questions.

Certificate

Upon successful completion in the practical, scenario & written assessment tasks candidates will be issued a nationally accredited Statement of A This qualification is recognized in both PNG and Australia.
