HLTAID012 Provide First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
 

Course Description

This 8 hour course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The course covers CPR, and first aid skills including asthma and anaphylaxis.  Pre-course is requied to be completed prior to attending the course.

Course Content

Topics include CPR; responsibility of the first aider; infection control; bleeding, wounds & shock; medical emergencies; head injuries; seizures; asthma; anaphylaxis; bites & stings; poisoning; burns & scalds; eye & ear injuries; communicating details of incident, report writing.

Assessment Tasks

Demonstrate competent CPR on an adult and infant manikin; use of an AED; participate in 3 first aid scenarios; provide written and verbal communication about the scenario incidents; complete 40 multiple choice questions; complete 160 questions as pre-course work.

Certificate

Upon successful completion in the practical, scenario & written assessment tasks candidates will be issued a nationally accredited Statement of This qualification is recognized in both PNG and Australian workplaces.
